My Mandoobar experience : lunch-time trip to Korea

The Mandoobar

I just came back from an excellent and exotic travel.

Being abroad and changing scenery is good for the soul.

As I was coming back, in the plane, I remembered I went to a restaurant with a friend of mine, not far from my apartment in Paris, from which when we were leaving my friend C. told me "Thanks for the trip !" & I remembered I had this thought "it's true, it seems like we have travelled abroad, during this lunch-time."

So, for those of you who are looking for a "I was away" feeling, I present the Mandoobar.

All about the ambiance

I do not know if it is the heat of the restaurant, or the smell of exotic spices & herbs, or not being able to see the outside because of the steam on the windows, or the music, but it is true that after eating at the Mandoobar, we feel like we have traveled a bit, for the duration of a meal.

Chief Kiw Kwang-Loc himself says :

"I understood that the taste comes not only with products but also through an atmosphere : taste the spicy fish soup with my father along the river, under the sun, with his little radio that passed an old fashioned song. It's probably for these reasons that decor and music are so important at Mandoobar"

What do we eat there ?

OF COURSE raviolis !

'cause I tasted them, validated them, and put the "it's awesome" stamp on them.

Raviolis with korean sweet potato vermicelli in them could be nothing else but excellent, anyway.

The korean salad is also a hit (cabbage - soybean - bell pepper - yellow radish)  & the homemade ice-cream too.

A particularity : the black ice-cream

I lost the picture, #shameonme, but at dessert the house offers a homemade ice cream, whose taste varies according to the seasons.

Not long ago, it was coco-coal.

All black.

Do not ask me what was in it exactly, I do not know, but all I know is that it was SUPER good.

The best table to sit ?

Better to book for the service because the establishment hosts about 25 seats, I would say, so not much.

If you like to be close to the kitchen & see the chef preparing tartares & delicate dishes that will be served, take a seat at the main counter, otherwise take a table in the 2nd part of the restaurant, which is a little more quiet.
